To be able to properly provide for its residents, the City of Luxembourg has around fifty administrative, technical, cultural, social and socio-educational departments. Total staff is of 4.389 employed.
The City hires its staff based on job interviews following calls for applications (published here). Eligibility checks and special tests are also required for certain careers. Hiring conditions and job descriptions are included in the respective job listings. Please note that sufficient knowledge of the three administrative languages (Luxembourgish, French, and German) is required for all positions. Hiring decisions are taken by the municipal council for municipal civil servants and employees, or by the College of Aldermen for private employees in accordance with municipal law.
